Love my Birkenstocks! They are great around my house to support my feet and I always take them traveling too! I have also purchased the plastic type Birkenstock sandals too for my trips to Belize – work great along the ocean and in sand. No worries about getting them wet!

It’s always fascinating to me what shoes people find comfortable. One person’s comfort shoe is another’s persons “oh my gosh my feet are sore!” shoe. That’s one of the reasons I go to your lists – there’s something for everyone. I was surprised not to see the classic Merrell shoes that just about every walker I know has – Kahuna or Siren sandals. I buy a new pair every couple of years!

Birkenstock has been my go-to for years. I have about 6 pairs but need to replace the ones with the backstrap, which are hard to find. I love getting all the recommendations from this site!

Thanks so much for this helpful article. I have the most sensitive feet ever, and almost everything creates hot spots – not good ever but especially not when traveling! I can’t wait to check these out and see if I can find a good fit. Thanks to you, I found Taos sandals for my trip earlier this year to Greece and Italy – fingers crossed I’ll get lucky again.

Diagnosed with fasciitis recently, I unearthed my college-age Birkenstock Arizonas from our basement storage – they still hold up as wonderfully supportive and unbelievably durable. I got a restoration kit at the local shoe shop to give them a re-set and they are back on my feet and on my travel packing list. Thank you, Barbie, for reminding me that I proudly chose Birkenstocks many years ago!
